J. J. Colleges of Arts, Colleges of Applied and Colleges of Architecture have received in-principle approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for conversion into a deemed university. After fulfilling the terms and conditions of UGC J. J. The college will get the status of a recognized university. For this, the state government had appointed a consultant in the month of July last year. In order to fulfill the proposals and plans made by the consultant, as well as fulfilling the conditions in the letter received from the UGC, J. J. The State Government has constituted a task force on 19th September 2022 under the chairmanship of Nipun Vinayak, State Project Director of National Higher Level Shiksha Abhiyan, to get the college status of deemed university.
In order to establish Abhimat University, the state government has to establish a company first. Abhimat University is going to be started under this company. At present, the task force is in the process of setting up the company, sources said. After completing the registration process of the company, all the assets of the college will be transferred to this company. After that the Abhimat University will start in real sense. Sources also mentioned that it is proposed to complete this process quickly and start five post-graduate degree courses in the college from the academic year 2023-2024 through the approved university.
Meanwhile, J. J. Efforts are being made since 2017 to grant the status of deemed university to Arts College. The then State Govt. J. A study committee was constituted in March 2022 to convert the Arts College into a State University. This committee was abolished by the new government last month. So J. J. Along with the Arts College, two other Arts Colleges have been paved the way for conversion into a prestigious university.
Syllabus proposed in first year
MFA in Contemporary Art Practices, M. Arch in Metropolitan Architecture, M. DES in Communication and Experience Design, M. DES in Typography and Type Design, along with these courses M. F. A. in Art Education, M. Arch in Architectural Education, M. DES in Design Education course is proposed to be introduced through Abhimat University.
