In the first incident, a boy, Santosh Tukaram Dhase (15), was slightly injured when a leopard clawed at his leg. In the second incident, two-wheeler Suryabhan Chilu Sarode (age 38) escaped unhurt after the leopard missed the jump. Sakharam Dhase and his nephew Santosh, who lived in Dhase Vasti, had gone to the village on the Dusangwadi Maldhon road around 6:30 in the evening for the funeral of a person of the village in Maldhon. When the bike came just 50 to 60 feet away from the house, the leopard that came from behind jumped on the bike. As the speed of the bike was slow, Santosh, who was sitting at the back, was injured by a leopard’s claw on his left leg and near his ankle. The injured Santosh Dhase was taken to a hospital in Vavi and treated. Just 15 minutes after this incident, a leopard attacked the bike of Suryabhan Chilu Sarode, who was going from the village to the settlement on the old Vavi road, near Sarode settlement, which is close to this settlement. But since the speed of the bike was high, the bike went ahead and the leopard spread across the maize field. After the news of the incident came to the village, fear of the leopard spread among the villagers. The police have requested the forest department to install a cage in this area.
