Afzal Khan Grave: Demolition of construction near Afzal Khan’s grave started, action under tight security

Satara: The Hindutva demanded that the unauthorized construction near Afzal Khan’s grave at the base of Pratapgad fort be demolished. But since this issue is complex, the Satara district administration and the government took a neutral stand in this regard. But now a step has been taken by the Shinde-Fadnavis government and action is being taken.

Former MLA Nitin Shinde had also demanded several times that the tombs of Afzal Khan and his bodyguard, which testify to the prowess of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, should be opened for all. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s feat by killing Afzal Khan was being remembered by the future generation, so that the administration should allow everyone to visit this place. The police protection given to Afzal Khan’s grave should be withdrawn. Also, pressure was being put on the district administration and government to open this place to the general public and erect a sculpture of Afzal Khan Vadha at this place and write Maharaj’s prowess on it in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

The tomb is being ennobled by the followers of Afzal Khan. Due to this, the demand that the illegal constructions in the grave area should be demolished. Now the action has finally started during the Shinde-Fadnavis government. 19 unauthorized rooms built in Afzal Khan Kabar area are being demolished. This construction is being demolished with the help of JCB. It is said that it will take 5 to 6 hours to demolish this structure. As this matter is sensitive, a heavy police presence has been kept at this place. Also, the police system has been alerted to prevent any untoward incident.
