Bajrang Punia said, Our fight is not against the government or Sports Authority of India. We are against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Bajrang’s coach Sujit Mann and physio Anand Dubey, along with the support staff, are also on strike. Singh has been the president of WFI since 2011 and was elected for a third consecutive term in February 2019. The wrestlers tweeted the hashtag Boycott WFI President and also tagged the PMO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Wrestlers have tweeted about this on microblogging websites and Twitter with the tag #BoycottWFIPresident #BoycottWrestlingPresident. Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia wrote – Federation should support athletes. The federation has to take care of their sporting needs. If there is a problem, a solution has to be found, but what if the federation itself creates the problem? Now to fight, we will not back down.
Sources have informed that the wrestler will hold a press conference and present his statement to the media in the evening. However, Olympic medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik has criticized this on Twitter. She wrote – Wrestlers work hard and win medals for the country, but the federation has done nothing but let them down. We are being harassed by rules and laws that we do not agree with.

Geeta Phogat’s cousin Vinesh Phogat is also among the protestors. She tweeted – Athletes want respect and prepare with full vigor for the Olympics and other big games, but if the federation does not support them, their morale will go down. But now we will not give in, we will fight for our rights.
