Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a threefold increase in the salary of wrestlers at the Maharashtra Kesari program. Wrestlers winning in national and international competitions will be paid Rs 6,000 to Rs 20,000, Arjuna award winners will be paid Rs 6,000 to Rs 20,000 and wrestlers like Hind Kesari, Maharashtra Kesari and Rustum A Hind will be paid Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000. Fadnavis also assured that the pension of wrestlers will be increased from 2.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand. Fadnavis also said that successful wrestlers in wrestling competitions will be accommodated in government jobs.
Devendra Fadnavis further said, “Khasaba Jadhav won a medal in the Olympics 61 years ago. However, since then the wrestlers of Maharashtra have been deprived of medals. The state government is going to launch Mission Olympics to improve their performance and win medals in events like the Olympics. ” Fadnavis mentioned that if there is a proposal to hold the Maharashtra Kesari competition for women in the future, the state government will encourage it. Fadnavis remarked that Eknath Shinde, who won the title of Maharashtra Kesari in the political arena, got the honor of the post of Chief Minister.
Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India said, “The relationship between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh has been very good since the beginning. Khashaba Jadhav, the son of Maharashtra, won a medal in the Olympics 61 years ago, but unfortunately the wrestlers from Maharashtra have fallen behind. The state government has taken the initiative to bring wrestling back to its glory days. It should be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is encouraging girls to advance in all fields. Dipali Syed has demanded to start Maharashtra Kesari competition for women, it should be considered positively.
The prizes of Maharashtra Kesari Tournament were distributed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, President of Indian Wrestling Federation Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister Girish Mahajan. On this occasion, President of Maharashtra State Kustigir Sangh, MP Ramdas Tadas, Srirang Barane, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Madhuri Misal, former MP Ashok Mohol, actress Dipali Syed and many dignitaries from the political and wrestling fields were present.
