Why are bananas crooked?
Like other fruits, bananas also grow on trees. Like many fruits, the tree first flowers and then the bananas grow under the flower petals. When bananas become very large in size, bananas undergo a process called negative geotropism. Which means that instead of growing towards the ground, bananas tend to turn towards the sun, i.e. upwards, for sunlight. Due to this tendency, the bananas tend to grow upwards, hence the shape of the banana is crooked.

What is the history of banana?
Banana trees first grew in the heart of the rainforest. There was very little sunlight. So bananas started growing upwards for sunlight. In such conditions, the banana trees got used to it. So bananas first grow towards the ground and then they grow upwards towards the light, hence the shape of the banana is crooked. It is believed that banana was first cultivated in Malaysia 4 thousand years ago.

Sunflower plants also undergo the same process
The banana tree is not the only tree associated with negative geotropism. Sunflower plants do the same. Wherever the sun goes, so does the sunflower flower. That is, the sunflower turns in the direction where the sun shines, the same happens with the banana.
