After Ajit Pawar, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly, made a statement about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, there was a political uproar. After Ajit Pawar said that Sambhaji Maharaj was not a religious hero, but he was a guard of self-government, the leaders of the BJP and the Shinde faction also raised criticism. Now BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Udayanraje Bhosale has also presented his position.
Sarvadharma Samabhav was the concept of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He did not discriminate against people of any caste and religion. Now every political party speaks from its own perspective. But neither Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj nor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had ever disrespected any religion, so there should not be any controversy over this, said MP Udayanraje.
At that time, he also built mosques along with temples. Shahi Masjid in Satara is still maintained by our family. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were both Swaraj Rakshaks. Udayanaraje said that as he respected all religions, he was also a dharma rakshak.
What did Ajit Pawar say??
Ajit Pawar, while speaking in the winter session, had stated that Sambhaji Maharaj was a Swaraj Raksha, it is wrong to call him a religious hero. After this, BJP leaders immediately raised their anger against Ajit Pawar. Saying that ‘Sambhaji Maharaj was a hero of religion, he sacrificed for religion’, BJP protested in various places in the state to protest against Ajit Pawar’s statement.
