The police started investigating the case on January 10. After a complaint was lodged by Chhotelal, a resident of Ghaziabad, the police started an investigation. Chhotelal had complained that his brother Satish Pal was missing. The police became suspicious as the wife Neetu did not file a complaint even after a week passed after her husband went missing. After this, the police searched for Harpal in Gaur city. Harpal often came to meet Neetu and Satish.

The police interrogated Neetu and Harpal thoroughly. In the interrogation, Harpal told the truth. He confessed that he killed Satish with the help of Gaurav. Neetu and Harpal had an affair. They wanted to get married. Harpal, a mason by profession, planned with the help of Neetu to kill Satish and bury his body in the neighboring land.
Satish took Gaurav’s help to kill him. Both had got the house contract. Satish returned home on January 2. Satish ate and slept. At that time, Neetu, Harpal and Gaurav strangled him to death. To check that he was dead, they covered his throat with a towel.

The three took Satish’s body near an under-construction house. Harpal and Gaurav buried Satish’s body there. A septic tank was erected on it. On getting the information, the police started digging near the septic tank with the help of the house owner. The remains of the body were found on Saturday night. It was sent for autopsy. Harpal and Neetu were arrested on Saturday. Cases have been registered against them under Sections 302, 201, 34 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
