On Sunday morning, the milkman was standing outside the door of the concerned family. The police said that he got suspicious when no one opened the door despite ringing the bell repeatedly and this incident came to light.
35-year-old Asif was working as a clerk in a local madrasah. Asif, his 32-year-old wife Shagufta, three-year-old son Zaid and two-year-old daughter Myra went to bed on Saturday night. He kept the gas heater in his room running all night as it was extremely cold.
They were suffocated by the gas heater and all four died by Sunday morning, Circle Officer (CO) Biswa Abhishek Pratap said.
As no one responded to the milkman from inside, he inquired with the neighbours-priests. The neighbors called the police as they got suspicious. The police rushed to the spot and broke the door. At that time, all four members of the family were found unconscious on the bed.
The four were rushed to the Biswa Samaj Health Centre, but the doctors declared all the four brought dead before admission.
