Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) : We have seen many forms of cheating on the part of the wife or the husband in relation to marriage. Something similar happened at Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. Saptapadi also happened. After the splendid wedding ceremony, the bridegroom brings the bride home in a procession with the sound of music. Everything was fine till then. But after coming to the father-in-law’s house, when the husband’s veil was lifted for the ritual of showing his face, the ground beneath everyone’s feet shifted. The groom has also threatened to kill if justice is not served. This strange case is from Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.

Dalchand, who lives in Katauli village under Hazrat Nagar Gadhi police station limits of Sambhal, was married to a young woman from Kailadevi police station limits. The bride’s head is covered with a veil because of the marriage ceremony. According to traditional customs, the bride and groom take seven rounds and vow to be with each other for the next seven births.

After saying goodbye, the groom returned home with his bride. After this, as soon as the new daughter-in-law arrived, the ritual of showing the face started. Everyone present was surprised when the bridegroom’s side women removed the veil from the bride’s head. In fact, the girl who was to be married was not in a veil but was married to her elder sister in her disguise. In no time the matter became a topic of discussion among the villagers and relatives.

The bridegroom’s younger sister was arranged to be married and had an affair with her. But the marriage was arranged with her elder sister and the elder sister is said to be mentally weak. A caste panchayat was also held in this matter. However, as no solution was found, a complaint was lodged with the police. On the other hand, it was said from the side of the girl that all this drama is being staged to demand dowry. On the other hand, the groom, who calls himself a victim, is demanding justice. The groom has also announced that if I don’t get justice, I will commit suicide.
