Trumpets for assembly elections in three states sounded; Results on March 2, this is the programme

New Delhi: The Central Election Commission today on Wednesday announced the assembly elections in the three states of North East India namely Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. This is the first assembly elections to be held in the year 2023.

The term of Nagaland Assembly will end on March 12, Meghalaya Assembly on March 15 and Tripura Assembly on March 22. In 2018, voting was held in two phases in all these three states. So the result was declared on 3 March 2018. This year Tripura will go to polls on March 16, while Meghalaya and Nagaland will go to polls on February 27. Counting of votes in these three states will be held on March 2.

Tripura: Total seats – 60, Majority strength – 31
Meghalaya: Total seats – 60, Majority strength – 31
Nagaland: Total seats- 60, Majority strength – 31

Whose govt

Tripura- Last year, BJP won a historic victory. He had taken away the power of the Left Front in the state for 25 years. BJP had won 35 seats in 2018. He won 43 out of 59 seats with the help of Swadeshi People’s Front of Tripura. Biplab Deb was given the post of Chief Minister. In 2022, Deb was replaced by Manik Sah.

Meghalaya- In the year 2018, National People’s Party and BJP came together to form the government in Meghalaya. Congress had won maximum 21 seats in the elections. But BJP formed the government by uniting other parties. Konrad Sangma of NPP is the Chief Minister of the state.

Nagaland- NDPP and BJP formed the government in 2018. NDPP won 18 seats and BJP won 12 seats. Nephew became the Chief Minister of Rio State.
