Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was supposed to return to Team India from the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, but that will not happen now. In fact, Jasprit Bumrah has been dropped from the ODI series. Jasprit Bumrah was not included in the squad when the squad was announced, but the right-arm fast bowler was included in the ODI squad on 3 January. But now just 6 days after this decision, he has been dropped from the team again.
According to a Cricbuzz report, BCCI wants no rush regarding Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah has not reached Guwahati with the rest of the team. India have to play their first ODI against Sri Lanka in Guwahati.
Why out of the team again?
Jasprit Bumrah has been away from the cricket field since September 2022. Due to his back injury, he could not even play the T20 World Cup. After this, he worked on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy and was also declared fit. Team India selectors included him in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka only after the NCA declared him fit, but now it has been suddenly decided to give him more rest.
According to sources, Jasprit Bumrah can be seen playing in the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. The series will start from January 18. After this, the Indian team will play a series of four Test matches against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness is very important for Team India. Because this year, apart from playing the Test series against Australia, Team India also wants to play the World Cup. On the other hand, if the team reaches the finals of the World Test Championship, Bumrah’s role will be crucial there as well.
