But in the third ODI match against Sri Lanka, he surpassed Sachin by scoring a century.

In his illustrious ODI career at home, Kohli has scored 20 centuries in just 99 innings. Virat scored 100 runs in 85 balls hitting 1 six and 10 fours in the third ODI. Virat scored his half century in 48 balls.

One of the greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar has 49 ODI centuries to his name. He played 463 matches in his ODI career and scored a total of 18426 runs. He has scored 49 centuries and 96 fifties in ODI career. Sachin Tendulkar has 100 centuries in international cricket which is a world record.

In his first match of the new year, Kohli scored a resounding century against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. It was his first century in any format on Indian soil since November 2019. He missed out on a century in Kolkata, but in Thiruvananthapuram, Kohli took advantage of good batting conditions and an excellent start from the openers to score another century.

In the third ODI against Sri Lanka, he overtook Mahela Jayawardene as the highest run scorer in ODI cricket as he scored 62 runs. Before Virat’s innings, Mahela Jayawardene was on the 5th position in the list of highest run-scorers in ODIs, but now Virat has reached this position.
