Maharashtra Kesari: Riot of ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ on red soil, fierce competition for silver mace

Pune: From today once again the wrestlers are going to hit the red soil. A worthy platform for the wrestlers of Maharashtra, the prestigious Maharashtra Kesari wrestling tournament will be held from January 10 at Kothrud, Pune. More than 900 contestants will compete in this tournament to show their wrestling skills. On one hand there are many controversies going on about this tournament but wrestling lovers and young wrestlers of Maharashtra are equally excited for this tournament. It will be important to see who will engrave their name on this year’s honor.

Maharashtra wrestling tournament will be held from 10th to 14th January. This year’s wrestling competition is expected to be more historic and competitive. This is the reason that former winners such as Nashik’s Harsh Vardhan Sadgir, Kolhapur’s Prithviraj Patil, Bala Rafiq Shaikh, and other district malls are going to enter the competition with great strength. Prithviraj Patil won the national title just last month, so he is believed to be in good form. So these three will have a strong challenge from Sikander Sheikh of Solapur, Kiran Bhagat from International Wrestling Complex, Harshad Kokate from Pune district.

Along with this, Prativiraj Mohol, who is guided by Rajendra Mohol, will make his debut in this Kasuri tournament and it is estimated that he will show his brilliance in this debut. He is the grandson of erstwhile renowned Malla Amrita Mohol. Shailesh Shelke of Latur, Vishal Bunkar, Mauli Jamdade and Aadaras Gunde, who will play from Mumbai, will also be seen proving their talent in this tournament. Therefore, it is difficult to predict who will engrave their name on this year’s honor.

Ashok Mohol said that even before the start of this year’s competition, even if there is a dispute over the acceptance of this competition, we will give the mace as per tradition. A silver mace title is awarded to the winning rider. Although this practice started in 1961, since 1982 this mace has been given by families in memory of Mamasaheb Mohol, the founder of the State Kustigir Parishad. Along with this, the winner Malla will be given a Mahindra Thar Jeep worth 14 lakhs, along with a prize of 5 lakhs.

Controversies have started over the approval of this year’s Maharashtra Kesari wrestling tournament. Balasaheb Landge, the former secretary of the Maharashtra State Wrestling Council, has objected to this competition and alleged that the competition is not official. But the organizers have claimed that this competition is official as the competition is approved by the Wrestling Federation of India. A few days ago, the issue of doping of wrestlers was discussed. But this wrestling tournament is starting from today.
