By tapping on that name, you can send a message to yourself. This chat can be used if you want to save some messages for reference or send them to someone later. While deleting a chat, an option appears whether to delete starred messages or not. If you choose not to delete, the messages will remain. These messages are available when you go to Settings and tap on the ‘Start Messages’ option.
