WhatsApp usually saves photos or videos to the phone’s gallery by default. In such a case the storage of the phone runs out very quickly. The first way to free up storage is to selectively delete photos and videos. But, it wastes a lot of time. So the best way to prevent media files from being saved to your phone’s gallery is to turn off auto media download. It will download the photo or video you downloaded. You can turn off auto media download for all chats. Let’s know the complete process.

Open the WhatsApp app. Now click on the three dots appearing at the top. Now go to Settings. Then click on Chats and select Media Visibility. Now turn off media visibility. This setting is for Android phones.
If you have an iPhone, go to WhatsApp’s settings and turn off Save to Camera Roll. If you don’t want to automatically download photos and videos sent by a specific person or group, open WhatsApp and go to that chat. Now click on View Contact/Group Info. After this turn off Media Visibility.
