These three types of chargers have received approval
The government has approved digital television receivers as chargers as before. Standard charger IS 18112:2022 specification has been issued for this. This charger will come with built in satellite tune. If we talk about the other type of charger, it has been approved by BIS for USB type C charging port for mobiles, tablets. While in the wearable category, a third type of charger has been approved for smartwatches. Research is ongoing in IIT Kanpur on its design and power. A standard charger rule for smartwatches may soon be issued.

2026 was the deadline
Earlier, the central government directed device manufacturing. Common USB Type-C charger approved for all devices by 2025 The regulation for common wearable chargers can be done from 2026 onwards. According to the report, after March 2025, smartphones and laptops without USB Type-C ports cannot be sold. The European Union (EU) has set a date of 28 December 2024.
Note – The USB Type-C charger has received unanimous approval. The government had called a meeting for this. This approval has been received in this meeting.
